    Please Volunteer!

We need volunteer attorneys/legal workers/law students to:
    • do community presentations on "Know Your Rights" vis a vis FBI
    • do community presentations on "Know Your Rights" vis a vis INS
    • do community presentations on "Know Your Rights" vis a vis harassment and discrimination
    • help train hot line staffers -- law students and others -- on the above issues
    • staff or provide back-up to staffers of hot line at the Islamic Center of Boston
    • help develop written hand-outs, and coordinate editing and translations
    • volunteer to take one detention/habeas corpus case

The Mass Chapter has been getting requests from mosques and various ethnic/religious/immigrant groups to provide educational presentations regarding FBI and INS, immigration issues, harassment, and discrimination. We have also been asked to train "hot line" staffers, to develop written hand-outs, and to set up referral panels. We are working in coalition with the NLG National Immigration Project (nlg.org/nip), American Association of Immigration Attorneys (aila.org), and the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights (lawyerscomm.org), so we can respond to all the requests. Please volunteer now!
