AJP is committed to building a transnational movement against supremacy and state-sanctioned violence in partnership with lawyers, organizers, and artists.

Jasmine Gomez (Rob Doyle Award) is the Democracy Honors Fellow at Free Speech For People, and works to pass a constitutional amendment to get big money out of politics, end corporate personhood and promote political equality. Luke Ryan (Lawyer Award) is a partner in the Northampton law firm of Sasson, Turnbull, Ryan and Hoose and serves on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Massachusetts Bail Fund (Legal Worker Award) pays up to $500 bail so that low-income people can stay free while they work towards resolving their case, which allows individuals, families, and communities to stay productive, together, and stable. The Mass. Bail Fund is committed to the harm reduction of freeing individuals serving pre-trial sentences and to abolishing pre-trial detention.

Nicole Holbrook (Student Award) is a third year law student at Boston University. After reviving the BU NLG chapter, she helped organize a “Resistance Series” with other Massachusetts student NLG chapters. Nicole is also an organizer around issues of labor, sexual harassment, and public interest opportunities.

NLG Litigation Committee (Special Recognition) – Since its inception in 2011, the NLG Litigation Committee has brought lawsuits against government agencies and other large institutions which engage in repressive or predatory actions.
